Thirteen-year-old Luke's life is transformed in an instant when his mum dies. He and his near-silent father move to a small, scruffy northern hill town, where they try to restart their lives. There he meets Jon - a misfit who wears 1950s clothes and is ridiculed at school. As they strike up a tentative friendship, Luke begins to suspect Jon is hiding a secret. And when Luke discovers what Jon has been hiding, their friendship changes both of their lives for good.
