Andrew, who is referred to by many as "Harley", is a boy who is interested in motorcycles. He works as a motorcycle mechanic in his free time. At school, he is very bad, going as far as threatening his maths teacher, Mr Hogg because he doesn't call him by his nickname, Harley. Harley is often scolded by his mother because he doesn't live as intellectually as his brother James who studies at Oxford. One day he meets Mike Howard, a famous motorcyclist, who hires him to be his mechanic. On that day, he stands up to his parents, telling them about his job. Later, he tunes a bike for his friend Chris for a race. Unfortunately, Chris is severly injured in an accident at the race. Yet even if his doctors tell him he will not be able to participate in any races again, he decides to join the next one. But Harley isn't so sure about this any more.
